January 14/26 – Meet the Mosses (ZOOM PRESENTATION)
In the plant world, mosses are “strong, sensitive” types. They cover enormous areas, are tough enough to grow without soil or roots, and can survive long droughts and winters (heck, even glaciation!). Yet, they’re also individually tiny and delicate enough to signal early warnings of environmental change. In the urban and natural spaces that we know and love, mosses make themselves at home on soil, wood, rock and a huge array of human-made stand-ins. It is sometimes hard to learn about them in standard field guides, though! Jennifer Doubt, Curator of Botany at the Canadian Museum of Nature, will provide us with a guided opportunity to come face-to-face with some of the most fascinating plants on the planet.
February 11/26 – Native Plants and Pollinators (ZOOM PRESENTATION)
Elizabeth Sheehy will discuss the vital role of pollinators in our ecosystem and the part played by native plants in this relationship. She will also talk about how we can begin introducing more native plants into our gardens and will provide some local resources. The Butterflyway Project, a citizen-based movement growing highways of habitat for bees and butterflies across Canada, will also be introduced.
Virtual (Zoom) meeting events: In order for Non-members (guests) to receive the relevant Zoom link, a Guest Fee Remittance Form (link below) MUST be filled out, submitted and paid, NO LATER than 24 HOURS PRIOR to any Zoom meeting event. Guest fees may be paid by E-transfer or by phone as detailed in the Guest Fee Remittance Form (link below).

He will also discuss the latest trends in peonies.
April 08/26 – The Urban Potager: A Field to Table Experience
Think rainbows of colour in the saladier and beyond. Crisp lettuces, Asian greens, sweet tomatoes and blooms. In this presentation, Odette McIntyre, Master Gardener, will talk about how to create an attractive living space full of vegetables, ornamentals, herbs and structures in an urban setting where space is a constraint. Grow beautiful blooms, unique vegetables and greens to enhance your table and thrill your guests. Find out about vertical gardening, best practices, found objects and more.
